Ziro Homestay, Arunachal Pradesh
Ziro, nestled in the mountainous folds of Central Arunachal Pradesh, is one of the most picturesque places in all of North East. The bowl shaped valley with colorful mosaic rice fields, interlaced by canals, makes for a very pretty sight.
The beauty of the land is further accentuated by the friendly Apatani tribe, who reside over here. The culture and traditions of the Apatani tribe is still pretty intact as most of them are still animists following Donyi-Polo (Sun and Moon). And it is not uncommon to spot elder men with long hair tied up in a peculiar way, and old women with wooden nose plugs. To get a glimpse of their culture one must visit some of their villages spread across Ziro valley . The villages of Hong, Hari , Hija, Duta and Baman Michi are the most interesting ones.
Since the past few years Ziro has also become quite famous for the Ziro Music Festival which happens here in the third week of September. People from all over, come to listen to nationally and internationally renowned artists.
