Densely forested valleys formed by the mighty Siang and Subansiri rivers, characterises the stunning landscape of Central Arunachal. These remote valleys have preserved within their folds many tribal communities, who still follow their age old traditions. The Adi, Apatani, Tagin and Mishmi are some, who lead a sustainable and simple lifestyle which is close to nature.
The Central Arunachal Tribes Tour explores the cultural diversity of a little know region in India. Starting from the tea gardens of Assam, the road less travelled takes you to dense evergreen valleys, inhabited by diverse tribes who lead a lifestyle close to nature. The tour will open your eyes to the unique culture of Adi, Apatani, Tagin and Nyishi tribes.

Day 1: Dibrugarh
Pickup from Dibrugarh airport and check-in to your hotel. In the evening go for a walk on the banks of the Brahmaputra to enjoy a glorious sunset. O/n at a hotel in Dibrugarh
Day 2: Dibrugarh to Pasighat 135 kms; Drive time: 4 hours
Commence your journey with a scenic ferry crossing over the Brahmaputra to reach its North Bank. A two hour drive through open country will get you to Pasighat, on the bank of the Siang river.
In the afternoon you will visit some villages of the Pasi tribe who are a subgroup of the Adi tribe. O/n at a hotel in Pasighat
Day 3: Pasighat to Along 145 kms; Drive time:5 hours
Continue driving through some breath taking landscapes as you now enter the main Siang valley, inhabited by the Adi tribe. On the way take a small detour to the village of Pangin to walk on a 1500 foot long suspension bridge over the Siang. O/n at a hotel in Along
Day 4: Along
In the morning set out to visit a village of the Adi Minyong tribe, learning about their customs, culture and lifestyle. Their villages are mostly located on mountain tops, from where they get their name Adi meaning ‘Mountain Top’ . During our walk through the villages you will be impressed by their mastery over bamboo and cane which are used to make everything from their grand houses, to intricate baskets and a unique Adi cap. The women folk are no less, matching their skills in local weaves. If you are interested in local products this would be the best place to buy them from.
In the afternoon drive to Darka, one of the largest village of the Gallo tribe. Walk through the village, interacting with the local people to understand their sustainable way of life. O/n at a hotel in Along
Day 5: Along to Daporijo 170 kms; Drive time: 6 hours
Drive further West , crossing over to the Subansiri valley. En route we visit some villages of the Hill Miri tribe.
Daporijo is small town on the banks of the Subansiri river, offering grand views of the emerald river. This area is mainly inhabited by the Tagin, Hill Miri and Mishmi tribes. O/n at a hotel in Daporijo
Day 6: Daporijo to Ziro 184 kms; Drive time: 6 hours
In the morning visit some villages of the Tagin tribe, set amongst the scenic backdrop of Subansiri river. Continue further down the lower part of Subansiri valley to Ziro – The land of the Apatani tribe. In the evening relax and chat with your hosts. O/n at Homestay in Ziro
Day 7 & 8: Ziro
The Ziro valley is by far one of the most picturesque places in all of Arunachal Pradesh, bearing the appearance of a colourful natural mosaic. This valley is inhabited by the Apatani tribe who are spread across seven large villages. One of the most evolved and intellectual of all tribes, the Apatanis have unique customs and traditions. The farming practices of the Apatani is considered to be one of the most productive in the world.
Over the next two days you will walk through pretty rice fields, learning about the unique farming practices of the Apatanis; trek through Blue Pine forests, admiring at the natural beauty; and visit the villages of Hari and Hong to understand the lifestyle of the Apatani tribe.
In the evenings interact with your host family over cups of local rice beer and learn to cook some local delicacies. O/n at Homestay in Ziro
Day 9: Ziro to Itanagar
Drive to the capital city of Itaganar. We will visit some villages of the Nyishi tribe as we near Itanagar. O/n at a hotel in Itanagar.
Day 10: Itanagar to Nameri
In the morning we visit the state museum where you will get to see the lifestyle of all the major tribes of Arunachal. By late morning drive down to the plains of Assam, bringing to an end a memorable trip. Relax and unwind around your camp. O/n at a eco camp in Nameri
Day 11: Nameri to Guwahati
After an early breakfast drop to Guwahati airport
