The Galo, one of the twenty-six major tribes of Arunachal Pradesh, residing in the central valleys of the state are renowned for their vibrant culture and age-old traditions.  Living close to nature, the Galo people offer a captivating glimpse into their heritage. Embracing an agrarian lifestyle, the Galos celebrate various festivals, notably Mopin  with fervour and traditional dances, adding vibrant colors to the serene surroundings.

Day 1: Dibrugarh to Basar                            155 kms; 4.5 hours

Pickup from Dibrugarh airport from where we commence our drive to Basar, the headquarters of the newly created Lepa Rada district. En route we will drive over the 5 kilometer Bogibeel bridge over the mighty Brahmaputra.

Day 2: Basar to Village 1                              walk time; 3 hours

After breakfast drive for an hour to Tirbin from where we start walking to our first village. The walk today is an easy and picturesque one as it skirts the river, passes through fields and some smaller villages. O/n at a homestay

Day 3: Village 1 to Village 2                         walk time; 3 hours

Continue our walk to one of the most prominent Galo villages in the region. The walk passes through secondary forests and jhum fields. In the second half we will participate in traditional fishing of the Galo community allowing us to immerse more deeply in their culture. In the evening we will be regaled with folk stories by the village elders. O/n at a homestay

Day 4: Village 2 to Village 3                                     walk time; 4 hours

Today’ walk involves a steep climb up for an hour through verdant forests . From here the route descends down towards some smaller villages giving us an opportunity to observe the lifestyle of the Galo community. In the second half we will head to the river for some angling and a refreshing swim . O/n at a homestay

Day 5: Village 3 to Kamba                                        walk time; 3 hours

The last day of walking is a relatively easy one to Kamba, a village -town in West Siang. For the remainder of the day we will participate in the celebrations of the Mopin festival, the most important festival of the Galo community. O/n at a Resort

Day 6: Kamba

Enjoy the entire day in the festivities of the Mopin festival . We will participate in traditional dances, help in preparing the community feast  all of which will help us build a bond and learn about the customs of the Galo tribe . O/n at a Resort

Day 7: Kamba to Dibrugarh                                                 220 kms; 6.5 hours

By late morning commence our drive back to Dibrugarh . O/n at a hotel

Day 8: Dibrugarh

After breakfast drop to Dibrugarh airport

Cost per person: Rs.38,500/-  + 5% GST  (Cost for Indian Nationals only)
